while if you want to see much of anything. But if your time is limited, at least go up to Cairns on the
east coast and dive the Great Barrier Reef!, a long way off, but worth the trip. Plan on staying a
Greece and the Greek Islands hold different interests altogether.
If you're into history, do the mainland, if you're into beauty and scenery and meeting the people, do the islands.
London is just sheer fun, tons of things to do, no
language barrier, and a public transit system that enables you to get wherever you want to go
with ease.
New Zealand is a tiny little country with a big heart.
Even though we technically speak the same language, the "kiwi" accent is difficult
to understand. New Zealand has every type of geographical clime and structure
that we do in the United States. Most incredible of all are the geothermal areas of Rotorua.
The townsfolk tap this energy to heat and cook with and the boiling pits of mud and steam rising by the
sides of the roads make for some spectacular scenery.
Paris must be where love was invented.
Truly the "city of lights"; take the evening tour of the city, they light up everything. If
your heart doesn't melt, you must be made of stone. The French people are not stuck up,
nor do they hate Americans as I have been told. I did try to speak a bit of the language
and this impressed them so much, I made tons of friends.
Portugal is a wonderful little country
that unfortunately I did not get to spend much time in. One interesting fact is
that they also have bullfighting, they never kill the bull; trying keep some humanity
in their traditional sporting event.
Spain was actually the only country I
found that I had a hard time getting the people to open up, and strangely enough, also
had quite a bit of difficulty with the language. Most other countries seem to welcome
English speaking visitors, but alas, very few menus in English here. So, if you go,
brush up on your Spanish and bring a good dictionary with you.
Switzerland is a great
place to visit in any clime. I visited for two weeks this past September. The weather was
perfect for both touring and skiing. I guess the best way to describe Switzerland is to show you, so come and take a peek at my photo album.
